Love, fairy creatures and hilarity. All this and more is what is on tap for TOAD’s upcoming production of William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Nights Dream. In this condensed version of the Bard’s comedic masterpiece, you will follow the adventures of young lovers who attempt to escape the conformity of the rule of Athens and parental rights in the pursuit of true love. We also get to see the mayhem that is unleashed upon unsuspecting mortals as fairy creatures, with good intentions, interfere with matters of the mortal heart. Witness the hilarious trials of some of Athens’ artisan community as they attempt to stage a play for the Duke’s marriage celebration, and the madcap results that ensue. Jealousy, love triangles, fairy magic and good spirited fun grace the stage in a 1 hour and 15 minute version of Shakespeare’s classic romantic comedy. Come share in the festive atmosphere of the outdoor stage at the Evergreen Playhouse as TOAD presents this Elizabethan farce of love and mayhem.
